ADMINISTRATION HOSPITAL LUNCH, PICNIC, AND SUPPER VISITS:
All,
POC a the VA Medical Center is Paulette
Beasley (Recreation Coordinator) (804-675-5000 x3492).
1. The 2B Hospital Ward can currently
handle 6 and there is work underway to increase to 15. Paulette is
in the best position to identify an adequate target group and give us 2
weeks notice when we may have an event. Further, she requests we
consider an on-demand format of visitation for one or two vets. She
will again call us (a couple days in advance) and ask our association for
a volunteer(s) to bring food (chicken, pizza, as an example) and spend
time over dinner visiting/talking. The vets really need interaction
other persons outside of hospital staff. I suspect we all would consider
either the large or small visitation format acceptable. Never-the-less,
Paulette is the key for notification and I have CC her on this email :-)
2. I have attached a map to the
hospital and hospital floor plans detailing the 2B ward office/dining area
(small event) and the multi-purpose room (large event).
3. We can bring family members however
the children have to be at least 12 years old. This restriction is
due to the spreading if infectious agents.
This is a great plan! It will
evolve, over time, into an extremely worthwhile experience for both our
association and the hospital. We will have sufficient notice, in
either situation, to react when she calls. Please monitor your RAT
III emails and look forward to those opportunities as they are broadcasted
:-)
Thanks
